Chinese Entrepreneur Visa Application Service
In addition to the general Z visa for employment in China, China also issues R visas to foreigners who meet the requirements of “competent, cutting-edge, and urgently needed talent” and market-oriented high-level and urgent talent, including scientists, scientific and technological leaders, international entrepreneurs, specialists, and highly skilled personnel.
Entrepreneurs in this category can apply for R visas valid for 5 or 10 years with multiple entries into China, and their spouses and underage children will also receive the corresponding type of visa. It is worth mentioning that entrepreneurs entering China on an R visa do not need to apply for a separate work permit if they are only on a business trip and not working in China.
Basic Requirements for R Visa Application
The R visa is part of Chinese visa category A, which is open to the above-mentioned special talents. Due to the urgent needs of China’s economic and social development, the Chinese government implements a “green channel” and “lets the lack of acceptance” with the goal of introducing talent.
The foreigner or the enterprise employing the foreigner must meet any one of the following conditions:
A1: Specially introduced foreign talent programs or honors by governments throughout China.
A2: Internationally recognized criteria for professional achievement, including foreigners who have personally received international professional awards or foreigners who have served as senior management or senior technical or professional staff in prestigious international organizations.
A3: Employment of foreign companies that meet certain criteria, such as global or regional headquarters of Fortune 500 companies, national high-tech enterprises, nationally recognized enterprise engineering research centers, enterprise technology centers, Chinese domestic institutions of higher learning, tertiary general hospitals, foreign-funded hospitals, Chinese domestic first-class orchestras, central and local mainstream media, national or provincial sports teams or clubs, etc.
A4: Foreigners innovating and starting a business in Shanghai (subject to relevant conditions).
A5：Foreign ultra-high-education talents.
A6: Score greater than 85 points according to the “China Work Permit Score Form.”
Documents Required For R Visa Applications
- Original passport of the applicant, valid for at least six months and with at least two blank visa pages.
- Copy of passport personal information page and (if applicable) extension page
- Visa application form for foreigners.
- A recent photo of the eligible person.
- Proof of legal stay or residence (for those who are not applying for a visa in their country of nationality)
- Proof of meeting the conditions and requirements of the Chinese government regarding the introduction of foreign high-level talents and urgently specialized talents
